Morris Reservoir to the bottom of Dry Creek

July 4, 2011

This is one of my favorite early season runs. The trails often dry up before the skiers are off the slopes. Except for the descent, and conversely the ascent, in Dry Creek, this is an extremely flat (by Utah standards) trail. I like to start at the Morris Reservoir, because of the nice flat 3/4 mile warm up and then do the slightly undulating hills leading into the descent of Dry Creek. For many the Dry Creek trail is rocky and somewhat technical. I would encourage you to take your time and not twist an ankle. Once you get to the bottom of the mostly often Dry Creek, turn around and do it again with a climb. As you should be aware the Bonneville Shoreline Trail is an easily accessible trail with a variety of users. Watch out for bikers, dogs, hikers and snakes.
