Morris Reservoir to Black Mountain

July 4, 2011

Much of this route comes from one of my favorite races in the Wasatch. Typically, the first week or so in June, the Wahsatch Steeplechase is a Utah classic. Roughly 17 miles in total with more then 3,000 feet of ascending and descending. It is a tough course for any runner. An adaptation I like to run, if I don’t have the full 3 hours, is to start at my favorite spot on the Shoreline, at Morris Reservoir, and to climb the route up to the crags of Black Mtn. This climb is 5.75 miles long with just over 2,500 feet of climbing. On a good day, I can do the climb in 1.5 hours and run most of the route, not all. Here is a profile of the route, I will include a trail update on the blog.
